My allergies are killing me. I am soooooo congested that I basically have to stay inside, the pollen is out of control! I am allowed to take Claritin, which is as safe as Tylenol, but it does nothing for the congestion....can't breathe from that, plus Peanut is laying on my diaphragm which doesn't help much!
So I am doing ok, but a couple things out of my control are bugging me! I am feeling pretty good, knock on wood. I have to start the NST next week, which means I sit on the fetal monitor for 20 minutes before my appt with the dr. I don't know what they are looking for exactly, but that is part of the new deal.
I have lost 4 pounds over the last 2 weeks and they aren't happy with that. I may have to get my diet adjusted. But I just can't eat it all without going over my carbs like I am supposed to. Maybe once the baby drops I will be able to eat and breathe.....

Baby Shower Part DuexDate: 05/04/2006
Last Sunday I had my second baby shower, and just like the first, it was wonderful! This baby has everything that I think it could possibly need (knock on wood) although I really think that you don't know what you need till you need it!
We have sooo much to be thankful for! Everyone has spoiled this baby rotten! We have big stuff and LOTS of little stuff....so we are "ready" as can be I figure! lol!
Thanks to Sunny and Andrea for organizing a great shower and for everyone that made the effort to be there and support us with a gift for baby Peanut! It means sooo much!

Surprise "shower"Date: 04/19/2006
Would you believe that my students threw me a shower? Yep, I walked into class and all the lights were off, so I flipped them on and saw the front table decorated with cupcakes and cakes and a big bag filled with yellow, blue and pink tissue paper! Of course can't have the cake, but I did have a bite.
They actually went to BRU and bought me a diaper bag and filled it with all sorts of stuff--a bowl, spoons, shampoo, lotion, pacifiers, butt wipes, fully stocked. It was so sweet! I had no idea that they would do something like that!

32 week appointmentDate: 04/18/2006
Well, I had my 32 week appointment on Monday. Everything went good. I have been monitoring my blood sugar and made it through the Easter Holiday without eating jelly beans or peanut butter cups, which would be the only things I might have had a weakness for.
For the first time I have a small weight gain (only 6 oz) and I get told that is wrong too. I am convinced that I can't win with that. My blood pressure is great, the baby's heartbeat is strong and despite a little foot swelling/flatness I am feeling really good.I am going to the doctor every week now, so you will be seeing lots of updates.
I was told on Monday that I will have another ultrasound at 38 weeks, which is the 1st week of June. I also have to do "non-stress" test monitoring starting in a few weeks. Plus, if I don't go into labor by the 17th, I am getting induced. Which does scare me a little.
I sleep very well most nights, but still feel a little tired. Every movement is very pronounced now. A kick or punch feels like a jolt and it really seems to take your breath away or shock you even though you know it is coming!

Taaa Daaaa! The nursery Date: 04/08/2006
Lookie lookie! See what my wonderful husband has done! This is the sneak preview of Peanut's room, the nursery.
When I say that he did this, I mean it. I really was restricted from doing any of it. I really wish that I had a before picture....He did the walls, which used to be covered in bad wallpaper and a charming deer paneling. The ceiling, which was once horrid paneling, with pieces missing. The trim, the floor, the painting...he did it all and it looks fantastic!
Of course he did get some help from Papa Young and Uncle Joshie, so a thanks to them as well.
Here it is:
This is Peanut's new abode, sorry these pictures only show a small amount of the room at a time, but it is a SMALL room and hard to photograph.
Here's photo one:Another little bit better view of that:Here is the crib and bedding:Just wanted to share, so excited here!

Sappy Saturday...my baby's birthday
One year ago today, I was blessed with the miracle of a second son. A son that in the last year has dramatically changed my life. The sound of his first cry was even more remarkable than his brother's, as we didn't even know what or how he would be due to his early birth. I remember the perilous fear of not knowing...if I could turn back time and ease my mind each day in the hospital, oh I would.
As I said, this boy has completely changed my life, for the better I would like to think. Some amazing things he has done this year include:
- He has hit all his milestones according to his adjusted age (2 months later than his actual)
- He is almost 20 lbs and has been on the full term baby charts for months
- He has made his family active in the mission of the March of Dimes, doing our first (annual) walk and rasing over $3000 for the babies of the Kalamazoo/Battle Creek area
- He has inspired Mommy to become a milk donor all proceeds to healthy preemie babies in Michigan
- He has made the nurses at Bronson and Spectrum very happy when they received their goodies during Nurse's Appreciation Week.
- He has made the preemie mom's days day with the delivery of an gender appropriate preemie sized outfit for Mother's Day
For reminisince sake, this is my little man just a year ago...
And this is my BIG boy as of today...
Gunner can sit unassisted, crawl, he pulls to a stand any chance he gets, he babbles with the sweetest sounds of ma ma ma and da da da and many more, he points, he gestures, he gets excited when he sees something he wants, he loves to be outside (waves his hands the minute you get near the door), he adores his big brother, he has to be the happiest baby I have ever seen (or had), he loves his doggies and parents. He is a very very special boy that I consider myself blessed to have. And honestly, this is hard to say as I know there were portions of this last year that were tough and downright awful, but if it meant he wasn't exactly who he was, I wouldn't change a thing. I would go thru hell for this boy...and probably already have!
Happy birthday baby boy!
